New Hobby.....

So Quinton's favorite hobby, besides playing Star Wars,  cooking up some mean Mac and Cheese, ramming cars down the runway and being a typical 3 year old, is PICKING his nose.  He continues to tell us that the boogies are soft and sometimes, "I get them on my finger and cannot get them off."  "Mom, but the best way I get them off is to act like I'm playing my air guitar and "flick it off my finger, isn't that a good idea?"   Both Nicki, our babysitter, and I tried so hard to hold ourselves together as were sending him off to school.  Where is he getting this, and please tell me this is just a phase that he is going thru?  I think I remember when I was a little and I thought that Boogies were COOL!  Not so much anymore......I am sure he is getting these habits from his Dad (picking his nose that is)!

Happy Birthday Aunt Jodi

It was Aunt Jodi, Aaron's Sister, big 40th birthday this week!  We celebrated at a local steakhouse where the all the boys and the kiddos cooked their own steaks while us girls all sat on our behinds and caught up.  We had a great time, in fact, somehow a FART machine ended up at the table, the kids and all the other tables around us got a kick out of it!  (you can see by the pics) Jodi, hope your 40th was the best birthday ever and please know that you do not look a day over 25.  We love you!

2009 resolution

One goal for 2009 is for Aaron and I to just hang out as a couple with no kiddos. We love them so much, but we also need our adult time too. Whether we meet at Starbucks for a cup a Joe, a date night w/ dinner and a movie or even just a Body pump class or a quick run, as long as we are together, right? (that Body Pump class will never happen....just FYI)

Last night we sat down and decided to start training for the St. Louis Half/Marathon in April. We thought, my parents are there, they could come and greet us with both kiddos at the finish line which will give us more incentive and Qman could run the Kids Run the day before and he would love it. Sounds like fun???

After thinking about running together in years past, this is what will happen.....Aaron will commit and NEVER train and I will work my butt off running to the exact training schedule and he will still BEAT me! He's amazing, It never fails! I guess I need to remind him we are doing this together to have some Sullivan Couple time.....right! He's a natural and I am proud of him for that!

Just thought I needed to put something down in writing to make sure we hold ourselves accountable. April 19 will be here before we know it. Let the training begin......

Happy Birthday Nana!

This is a memorable day..... it's Joy's Birthday!  We know she is up in heaven having a party! All the Sullivan girls and extended family are wearing special "Joy" bracelets that were designed at a local shop to honor her as well as raise money to fight breast cancer.    Thanks Traci for all your organization and for sending them out!  Just wanted to share some pics through the years..... We love and miss you Nana!

The flu Bug

That darn bug has hit our house this week. Quinton was vomiting for about 36 hours. Yuck! He was so good about it, though. The first night he woke up about 3:30 and basically wanted to have another party. ( he seems to do this when he is sick)

First he wants to go downstairs so he can hide from his dad behind the couch cushions, I informed him that he would be hiding a LONG time since daddy doesn't get up for work until 6:00. Then, he decides to change his underwear and in the meantime, he sees he has two of the same pair, he wants to share the other pair with Sloan "so they can match" as he places them outside her closed sleeping door. Finally I get him back to bed, with the bribe that I will rest with him just in case he pukes again and he agrees. After about 5 minutes, he asks me what is in my mouth, I said nothing, he said he couldn't sleep with me anymore because my breath was so bad! HE then proceeds to ask me to go and brush my teeth...this was about 4am. I about lost it! Are you kidding me? He is something else, he continues to bring humor in our lives even when he's sick! I couldn't imagine our lives any other way!

As of today, he is feeling so much better...back to his mischievous self, however, now it's starting to come out the other end... just a little, MOM!

Sloan Joy's Dedication

We asked Andy and Traci to be Sloan's Godparents this past weekend, before going to eat at Steak N Shake with the families, pretty high class, huh? We couldn't have thought of anyone better to lead Sloan in her journey of faith from this day forward.  We will have a special blessing after church and are looking forward to celebrating with friends and family.

Another special touch was when, Aunt Traci volunteered Maggie's baptismal dress from when she was dedicated to the Lord at 6 months old. We both thought this would be a special Sullivan tradition to pass down to all the girls in the family.  The dedication is in February so keep a look out for the pictures to follow.

Qman's favorites

Ok, I know most of you have seen the Backyardigains....well Quinton is obessed with them. I think he would literally watch TV for 10-12 hours straight if we would let him....sounds like someone else I know, Mr. Aaron. As a first child, we were not wanting him to watch a lot of TV, however, now with a second child in the house, so much for that theory!!! We try and limit the TV to 1 hr a day.

I have sat and watched a few shows with him before and the plots are just darling and the personalities are perfect for preschoolers. In fact, these shows have caused him to imagine all the places and adventures the characters on the show have encountered. Sometimes, we're on a treasure hunt, sometimes we're robots and policeman, and other times we're mermaids....whatever is his mood that day!

He also has gotten into a new show called, Sid the Science Kid....it is the cutest show ever. I just had to write about it because Aaron and I cannot get the songs out of our head. One of the songs, is, "I love my mom, she is cool, now it's time for me to go to school,"...and it's in a rap! Hilarious....must see if you haven't already.

Just wanted to blog, so one day Qman can look back and see what he was into at age 3 when we're stuck inside on a wintery day!   Check out these two shows if you haven't already, you will crack up!

Sloan update

Sloan has had a cold for the past 2-3 weeks and then was diagnosed with her first ear infection, I knew she just hadn't been herself.  After a some days on antibiotics she is already getting back in the swing of things!

Aaron has taught her to shake her head "Yes" and "No" on command, I think she's already liking No better!  Splashing in the tub is cool and now she's decides to leave puddles on the floor afterwards for us to clean up, clapping her hands for everyone with that big smile and even patty cake has been rather fun.  The best is she truly is the happiest baby on the block and she let's us know it!!!!  No teeth to report yet, but they are up there!

Oh I forgot, while at the doctor she was weighing in at 17lbs 2 ozs... you go Sloany! Started out at 5lbs and 8ozs and look at what this little young lady has become!  We are blessed...!  Sloan when you are reading this later in life, we thank you for the wonderful little memories!

Sharing......

We have always tried to teach the concept of sharing in our home, Quinton sometimes even says, "Mom, do you know what taking turns means, it's important to share"......as he tries to educate me when I'm eating HIS favorite snack or playing HIS favorite game; Mine always seems better than his at that moment...anyway, it's been pretty cute. Well, this sharing lesson was taken to the extreme.

The entire family decided to complete the nighttime routine together by brushing teeth, going potty, reading books, telling stories, saying our prayers and then getting tucked in. Well, all of a sudden we are reading books and Daddy says he has to go potty. Qman, using what he has been taught, says, "Daddy you can use my toilet".... Both Sloan and I are sitting there, thinking there is absolutely no way, we're watching and watching and see that he Really is going for it! Oh my gosh, Aaron starts to go potty in Quinton's toddler toilet ....what do you think happens......he Pees so much the toilet overflows, Nice! Now, the floor is covered in Pee, it smells yuck and, Quinton so quickly runs to gets towels and says we have to get this cleaned up, as he is smearing smelling urine all over the floor that hadn't even been destroyed yet!!!

After all the laughter and craziness, Quinton had a theory for why this has happen. He says, "Daddy your penis is too big for the toilet and that is why it overflowed." Again, after a little silence and a few giggles Aaron asked me. "Did he say, what I think he just said?" Aaron asked him to repeat it, I'll be darn, yep we heard him correctly! We both were in shock!

I guess, boys will be boys and I cannot wait to tell this story for years to come! Qman's lesson on sharing turned into something unforgettable! You gotta love what comes out of kids mouths these days!

Chi Town

At Marshall's spending way too much! Imagine that?
The best drink ever! Peach Sake

Japonais by the River-Yummy Sushi

This weekend Aaron and I took a much needed trip to the city. It was wonderful to just get away and catch up, after being so crazy over the holiday. Of course, we did the typical, talked about our kiddos, the finances (yuck!) and our reflections from 2008 and plans for 09. We love being downtown, it's a blast just watching the people, eating amazing food http://www.japonaischicago.com/and sleeping a little later than normal (until 8am). We both continue to comment that Chicago is a place where ANYTHING goes, and I mean anything. There we were next to a couple who was completely making out at the restaurant, and ok, the girls and their clothes, or maybe I should say the minimal amount of clothes. WOW! I think I am sounding just a little old.
Anyway, we had a great time and I feel so blessed that we can get away once in a while to have some adult time. Aaron, you are the best thing in my life...you are the greatest dad and husband. I love you today and forever. Ok, enough of the cheesy comments! Just kidding!

Sloan has......

no teeth yet!!!! She is so ripe and ready to pop,  we can finally feel one tooth, but not thru yet!!! We keep waiting every morning so...we'll keep you posted.   Otherwise, she is our favorite little chunky monkey, who is sitting up really good by herself and not wanting to have much to do with crawling! (We are ok with that)  She is starting to say what sounds like Momma, and Dadda and it's awesome!  I remember when Quinton first started talking.   She continues to make our heart melt, with all her smiles especially at her 2 favorite boys in the house. I thought the picture above explains her frustration sometimes!!!
